Annually during the first full weekend in December, Nantucket residents and visitors alike
gather for the Nantucket Christmas Stroll. The Stroll originated in 1973 during the nation's
first energy crisis. In order to preserve the festivity of the season, islanders devised the
stroll instead of facing the prospects of no lights on the town Chritmas trees. What started
as a neccessity has become a beautiful tradition on Nantucket. For more information please
